>'lost in the city' by YZ 1 April - 27 April, 2014
‘Lost in the city’ is the first solo show by French street artist YZ in London and a unique opportunity to discover the work of this very talented painter. In this show, YZ questions from an architectural perspective the duality of two cities of great meaning to her: Paris vs. Hong-Kong.
From studio work to in-situ performances, YZ beautifully and soundly reveals the specificity of Paris and Hong-Kong in order to confront their past, reveal their present and question their future with major urban issues arising. ‘Lost in the city’ is a fascinating journey through these two cities.
By putting architectural elements such as facades, monuments, ornamentations at the forefront of her work, YZ offers an in-depth questioning and understanding of each city, and helps us realise what makes them such unique and fascinating places.
The artist gets into the confrontation even further when she integrates classic architectural elements from Paris into Asiatic traditional run down surroundings. This leads to a great aesthetical emotion and eventually reveals a hidden link between two places believed to be so much apart.
The opening reception was on April 1st - you can still see this show until April 27th. We are open every day.
